The City of Reno Redevelopment Agency Advisory Board met on November 2, 2026. Staff reported that applications for an RDA funding round would be reviewed and scored over the next two weeks, with a proposed awardee list to follow; no award decisions or amounts were announced. The board received a presentation on the Virginia Street Placemaking Study as input to FY2028 capital improvement planning. Potential priorities include streetscape and plaza improvements, vacant-storefront activation, and continued pedestrian and public-space enhancements. Staff noted that renewed programming after ARPA funding ends, ongoing maintenance, and possible funding sources—including room-tax funding for programming and RTC participation in transportation-related work—remain for future consideration. The discussion was informational, with no related spending vote or procurement approval.
Staff also presented the city’s recently adopted Public Art Master Plan. The RDA is incorporating art into the first phase of the Truckee River path project, with three art elements in design and the project expected to go out to bid in late winter. Board members raised future policy and planning ideas, including possible changes to redevelopment areas and incentives or conditions for development funding tied to public-realm improvements; these were suggestions for future discussion, not adopted decisions. The board approved the agenda and prior meeting minutes and adjourned; no contract awards or vendor selections were made.
