The Warrick County Area Plan Commission held a special meeting on November 2, 2026, to hear public comments on a proposed data center zoning ordinance. County counsel said the proposal would not approve a specific facility or location; instead, it would require applicants to disclose the full foreseeable project scope and potential effects, including electricity and water needs, for review by county departments and the public. Each project would receive its own public hearing and review, with the APC making a recommendation and the county commissioners making the final zoning decision. Commissioners were scheduled to consider the ordinance on November 9.

Residents raised concerns about utility and infrastructure costs being shifted to ratepayers, water availability and wastewater, noise, pollution, emergency response and fire protection, enforceable limits and penalties, local employment, and the adequacy of public input. The APC’s final vote was to send the ordinance to the commissioners with an unfavorable recommendation. No contracts, purchases, vendor awards, or budget allocations were identified; the discussion concerned proposed zoning rules for potential data center development.
