The Madison Board of Education’s Instruction Work Group met November 2, 2026. The group approved its October 5 minutes by a 6–0 vote, then received an update on the district’s family, community, and industry partnership work. Staff described the Family Advisory Council and Family University, including a pilot of different event formats and plans to offer six sessions during the school year. Family feedback identified workforce development and family wellness as priority areas; staff also discussed improving communications, expanding participation, and working with community organizations. Board members asked about the initiative’s future budget needs, but no funding request, allocation, or spending decision was made.
The group also reviewed the semester-one class-size report, which presents class sections against the district’s existing policy ranges. Staff said most sections fall within or below the optimum range and outlined plans for a supplementary spring report showing additional classroom support staff. Board members discussed class-size data, staffing, student and educator experience, and possible future review of the policy; no policy change or related spending action was taken. No procurement activity, contract awards, vendor selections, or bid approvals were identified.
