The Groton Trails Coordinating Task Force meeting on October 29, 2026, focused on planning branding, wayfinding signs, and route alignment for the Cross Town Trail. Members reviewed logo concepts and directed further design work, including trying orange color options, clarifying the “cross” element, and developing sign layouts with trail maps and user symbols. They discussed durable sign materials and installation approaches, replaceable sign panels, possible multilingual rules, and recognition of grant and community partners. A budget of approximately $200,000 was mentioned, with the caveat that it may not cover the entire project and that implementation may need to be phased. No contract awards, vendor selections, or purchasing approvals were made.
The task force also narrowed the route-planning discussion toward one main route with an off-road section, while identifying some connections and safety questions for further consultation. Members discussed that signs may need permission along state roads and considered obtaining sample pieces from manufacturers, but no procurement action was authorized. The next meeting is expected in December; the group agreed that a November meeting was unnecessary.
