The City of Calgary held a public update on the Bearspaw South Feeder Main on October 28, 2026. City officials reported the replacement project was approximately 94–95% complete and on track to be connected by year-end. Beginning November 4, crews will shut down the existing feeder main for about four weeks to complete three tie-ins and six repairs to a smaller feeder main; commissioning is expected to take another two to three weeks. The shutdown will require Stage 4 outdoor water restrictions and voluntary indoor conservation. Officials thanked city crews, engineers, and contractors, but the meeting identified no contract award, procurement vote, or specific construction contract or budget amount.

The mayor also discussed the reported $2.3 million cost of an independent review of the water response and said the new water utility oversight structure has hard caps on compensation. He advocated a pause on large-scale data-center applications until rules address water and electricity use, local approvals, and community impacts; this was presented as an advocacy position, not an adopted procurement decision. No motions or votes were reported.
