The City of Farmington, Minnesota, City Council met on November 2, 2026. The council unanimously approved a professional services agreement with Alliant Engineering, Inc. for final design and bidding of the 2027 street improvements. The project’s feasibility estimate was $2,522,870, with $1.5 million identified from general-obligation bonds; estimated utility components include $572,660 for water and $246,935 for storm sewer. The recommended scope retains the Hunter lift station because rerouting sewer could require costly dewatering and risk mobilizing groundwater contamination; decommissioning was estimated to add more than $825,000. The council also unanimously approved the final design and authorization to bid the police department remodel and expansion. The estimated project cost is approximately $20.69 million, with bidding planned for November 10 through December 7 and construction anticipated to begin in April 2027. The project is expected to be financed with capital improvement bonds repaid through utility franchise fees; the city may apply $500,000 budgeted for 2026 design and pre-construction costs, and is awaiting a decision on $800,000 in requested federal community project funding. Kraus-Anderson is the construction manager at risk and BKV is the project architect.
