The Macomb County Board of Commissioners Finance, Audit and Budget Committee reviewed department budgets on October 29, 2026, including Public Works, Planning and Economic Development, Roads, and non-motorized trails. Public Works reported an $11.9 million budget, $5.6 million in revenue, and a proposed $127,100 revenue adjustment to shift a position’s funding to a wastewater district. The department also cited approximately $184 million in grant funding secured over time and discussed infrastructure and water-quality projects, including a $5.3 million odor-control facility. Planning and Economic Development reported a $500,000 EPA brownfield grant and a grant-funded housing inspector position. Staff said a countywide mapping proposal using EagleView, structured as a potential six-year contract, is expected to come before the Board next month; it was not approved at this meeting.
Roads outlined more than $100 million in road, bridge, and traffic improvements planned for 2027, including $43.5 million from federal sources, and discussed the new neighborhood road funding program. The department reduced its forecast for that funding to $25 million amid expected reductions, while noting the program could grow to $30 million by 2029. Members also discussed staffing, equipment, road projects, and trail-maintenance costs; no contract awards, bid approvals, or other procurement decisions were identified. The committee adopted its agenda and later considered a receive-and-file motion during the meeting.
