The City of Ashland Transportation Advisory Committee met on October 15, 2026, and reviewed proposed amendments to Chapter 18 of the municipal land-use code, with emphasis on transportation-related effects. The committee unanimously recommended adding clearer financial-security requirements, contingency amounts, completion deadlines, enforcement procedures, and protections for emergency and pedestrian access and public infrastructure during construction when developers defer required improvements. It also unanimously recommended preserving a mechanism to fund future street-frontage improvements when middle-housing land divisions are allowed. A separate motion on locating occupied recreational vehicles on private property and avoiding sidewalk obstruction also passed. These were advisory recommendations; the amendments were scheduled for further review by the Planning Commission and City Council. No contract awards or other purchasing decisions were identified.
Other updates included the Transportation System Plan update and its public-engagement process; RVTD’s planned restoration of Saturday and later-evening service and Route 30 service to Jacksonville, following voter approval of a property-tax levy; and a report that the East Main Park playground had moved up the capital-improvement list for the 2025–27 biennium. The committee also discussed an inquiry about traffic data collection at Oak Street and Nevada Street and communication about street-safety changes. No procurement activity or specific spending amounts were reported.
