The City of Davis Senior Citizen Commission met on October 13, 2026, with one commissioner absent at the start. Staff reported outreach for commission recruitment, with applications due October 23, including notices to more than 1,000 newsletter subscribers and outreach at a local resource fair. The commission discussed possible work-plan priorities, including senior housing, transportation, access to services in rural areas, and the effects of potential funding and benefit cuts. Public commenters recommended drawing on existing needs assessments and community expertise rather than duplicating prior work; staff also noted existing county services and a home-retrofit program run by the Yolo Healthy Aging Alliance.
The commission approved a motion to develop questionnaire questions at its next meeting and a motion for Commissioner Tom to begin work on planning a regional senior-services conference for May 2027, potentially with neighboring communities. Members discussed using a survey and conference to identify shared needs, service gaps, and possible city or regional responses. No contracts, purchasing decisions, budget allocations, or other procurement activity were identified.
