The October 21, 2026 meeting of the Fairfield, Connecticut Conservation Commission reviewed minutes and conservation matters. The Commission discussed a request to modify the existing conservation easement at 22/241 Siri Lane; no decision was made, and the applicant was asked to return with a revised proposal, including a clearer easement boundary and signage/posts, and additional information about the recorded plan and reported mowing violation. The Commission approved a revised draft memorandum of understanding for police use of the Voidance Hill shooting range, with substantive changes to be returned for Commission review. The draft updates operating contacts and procedures and describes warning signs at access points; a commissioner also requested that the range safety plan be kept on file.
Land-acquisition updates included ongoing work with Town Counsel on 80 Congress Street, DEEP’s response that it is not currently interested in conveying more than 80 acres at Voidance Hill to the Town, and possible foreclosure proceedings involving 3297 Congress Street (8.20 acres) and 120 Riverside Drive (1.86 acres), which together have about $55,000 in tax arrears. No acquisition, expenditure, contract award, or procurement was approved at this meeting. The Commission also received updates on legal enforcement matters.
