At the October 29, 2026 Berks County Board of Commissioners meeting, the board approved a procurement resolution awarding four contracts for Phase Two upgrades at the Berks County Ag Center. The awards were: general construction to Yurich Construction for up to $4,474,510; plumbing to Burkhart Mechanical for up to $425,900; mechanical work to JBM Mechanical for up to $1,080,000; and electrical work to Engineering Excellence, doing business as Berkshire Mechanical and Denny’s Electric, for up to $1,024,000. The board also approved 2026 budget transfers of $43,475 and appropriations of $27,192, along with a motion authorizing execution of four additional contract agreements or amendments listed on the contract agenda; their details were not read aloud. The agenda, including these actions, passed without opposition.

Other funding and infrastructure items included authorization to apply for up to $1,140,000 from PennDOT’s Multimodal Transportation Fund for rehabilitation of the Reading Gateway Bridge, and authorization for the county library system administrator to support Boone Area Library’s application for state Local Share Account funding. The board also authorized changes to the county’s parking facilities agreement with the South Central Transit Authority and accepted 2027 HealthChoices capitation rates. In comments, a commissioner described the county’s infrastructure investment fund as supporting a Crick Lane Extension project through a loan, but no new award for that project was considered at this meeting.
