The Pajaro Valley Unified School District Sustainable Schools Advisory Board met on October 26, 2026, to review enrollment trends, school-boundary and operating program model (OPM) planning, and facility options. District staff presented conceptual plans for 9,600-square-foot, two-story modular school buildings at Calabasas, Anzar? [transcript renders the name as “Ansoldo”], Freedom, and McQuitti elementary schools. The proposed permanent buildings would accommodate about 300 students each, have an estimated 30-year-or-longer lifespan, and require roughly 12 months of lead time. Staff described a provisional project range of approximately $7 million to $10 million per site, including the building and site work; the modular building itself was estimated at about $6 million. Planned work could include ADA access, elevators, HVAC, electrical and site upgrades, and improvements to surrounding facilities. The presentation was informational: no vendor was selected, contract or bid was approved, or spending vote was taken. Members raised questions about construction impacts, contingencies, approvals, historical sites, and suitability of other campuses; staff said the concepts could be evaluated for other sites and agreed to provide additional facilities information.

The board also reviewed 790 community survey responses and began developing OPM expectations, including student support, enrichment, staffing, facilities, and transportation, while discussing possible school consolidations and grade-span models. Members requested information on outstanding emergency work orders, HVAC/AC needs, funded repair projects and completion dates, and athletic-field conditions. Staff agreed to follow up, including with an assessment of classroom air conditioning. The group discussed devoting the next meeting to middle- and high-school models and potentially adjusting the recommendation timeline to allow further analysis. No other procurement action was identified.
