At the Town of Smyrna Council workshop on October 29, 2026, the council reviewed upcoming agenda items, including a proposed $1.88 million purchase of 11.7 acres on Gresham Drive from eight property owners. The purchase would support a future senior activity center lease and expansion of Lee Victory Park; staff proposed using the town’s capital fund and cited an $8.1 million appraisal of the existing senior-center site on Sam Ridley Boulevard, which could later be sold for commercial development. The matter was for discussion only and was scheduled to go to the Planning Commission on November 5 and council for formal action on November 10. The workshop also included a Sewart’s Landing development update covering committed and prospective tenants, parks and public spaces, and a future multifamily phase; no council procurement action was taken on that presentation.

Other procurement and spending items discussed included a proposed DMD Consultants fire-hydrant maintenance contract at $140 per hydrant, using pricing from La Vergne’s competitive bid; a traffic-signal contract with SNW Contracting for the eastbound I-24 ramp at Sam Ridley; an approximately $12,000 Adams Contracting change order for completed bridge repairs; and a wastewater-plant stair replacement contract with Iris Construction, with a $40,000 budget. Council also reviewed sewer-monitoring and appraisal-services agreements, a proposed $8 million State Revolving Fund loan at 3.29% for 20 years for the Mason Tucker booster station and Hilltop system improvements, and FY2027 budget amendments largely related to vehicle acquisitions. Staff announced an emergency water-treatment-plant electrolyzer replacement purchase costing $2,078,499. These items were discussed for placement or action on a future agenda; no votes on them were recorded in the workshop transcript.
