At the October 27, 2026 Queen Anne’s County Commissioners meeting, Maryland Department of Transportation officials presented the draft six-year Consolidated Transportation Program (CTP), totaling $21.9 billion statewide. Local project updates included the ongoing $7.3 million replacement of the US 301 South Bridge over MD 290; safety improvements at US 301 and MD 405, with design expected to finish in 2028 but construction funding not yet identified; and a US 50 corridor signal and traffic-management project proceeding through a design-build process using a recent federal grant. The draft CTP also includes $2 million for oyster restoration this fiscal year and $2.25–$5 million in each out-year, and an $841 million six-year aviation capital program focused largely on airport rehabilitation and facility work.

Discussion focused on transportation funding priorities, rural road maintenance, toll collection, congestion, and safety. MDOT described the Bay Bridge replacement as having an estimated cost discussed at roughly $16.5 billion (with a public commenter citing a $15–$18 billion range); design could begin in 2028, with construction starting as early as 2032, subject to a financing plan involving toll revenue and debt. Officials agreed to consider a request to assess a possible public-private partnership for added highway capacity, but made no commitment. Commissioners and legislators also identified local budget priorities including detention-center funding, school capital projects, the US 301/MD 405 safety project, and expansion of the US 50/301 ramp-management program. No contract awards or procurement votes were reported; MDOT said an out-of-state toll-collections agent solicitation had been posted, without naming a selected vendor.
