The Franklin Zoning Board of Appeals meeting was held October 29, 2026. The board approved a special permit for Innovative Collection LLC to operate a veterinary surgical clinic at 470–490 King Street. Approval included a condition requiring pedestrian safety at the rear exit, where people and animals may encounter the Dunkin’ Donuts drive-through; measures are to be developed by the tenant and landlord with the town zoning officer. The board also continued the applications for additions at 69 North Park Street and 110 Populatic Street to December 10 and November 12, respectively.

The board granted The Community Builders and St. John’s Episcopal Church a further 12-month extension of the Chapter 40B comprehensive permit for their proposed 64-unit affordable housing development at 237 Pleasant Street, through April 21, 2028. The applicants cited difficulty securing state funding, higher construction costs, and interest rates, and said they plan to reapply for state funding; no funding award or procurement was approved. The board also approved revised 2027 hearing dates, adding December 2 and December 16, and deferred further discussion of filing deadlines. No procurement activity was identified.
