# City of Monroe, WA Planning Commission Meeting July 27, 2026

**Body:** City of Monroe, WA Government
**Date:** July 26, 2026
**Jurisdiction:** SLED

The City of Monroe Planning Commission’s July 27, 2026 meeting focused on workshops for proposed critical-areas and middle-housing code amendments. Staff reviewed the critical-areas draft, including aquifer recharge protections, stream buffers, mitigation and restoration requirements, and property-owner procedures. The commission also discussed middle-housing options, including cottage-home size and density, affordable-housing requirements, and utility-capacity constraints. A public hearing on the amendments was tentatively scheduled for August 24, with further review expected before recommendations go to the City Council later in the year.

No contracts, solicitations, vendor selections, bid approvals, or procurement-related spending decisions were identified, and no substantive votes were reported. Staff said the critical-areas review was completed in-house without a consultant; purchasing mitigation-bank credits was discussed only as a possible mitigation option after other sequencing steps, not as an approved purchase. The meeting also noted forthcoming school-district capital-facilities-plan updates, but no related funding or purchasing action was taken.
