The City of Kenmore City Council’s regular meeting on October 12, 2026 included discussion of the draft 2027 legislative agenda and the proposed 2027–28 biennial budget. The state lobbyist reviewed prior legislative funding successes: $3.1 million for the 84th Avenue sidewalk and bike-lane project, $464,000 for the Public Works Operations Center geothermal system, and $300,000 for Burke-Gilman Trail ADA accessibility. The draft agenda included a $500,000 state transportation-budget request for sidewalks on Northeast 181st Street and continued planning for a future Lake Point capital-budget request. Council discussed tourism-promotion funding tools, tax-structure advocacy, and zoning and land-use language; it retained the amended zoning and land-use statement, rejected a motion to remove it, and directed staff to revise the tax-policy language and remove the passenger-only ferry statement. No contract award or procurement approval was identified.

Staff presented a proposed 2027–28 general-fund budget of approximately $39.98 million in revenues and $43.2 million in expenditures; the budget was for review, not adoption. Engineering plans include a study of SR 522 intersections, updates to road and pedestrian plans and traffic codes, pavement work, traffic-calming projects, and replacement of an aging city vehicle. The presentation also described plans to add four transportable traffic-enforcement cameras. A motion directing staff to prepare a resolution clarifying council’s intent regarding the climate and environmental stewardship, affordable housing, and human-services levy for the October 19 meeting passed 5–1. Public comments raised concerns about Arrowhead Drive traffic-calming options, artificial turf, and an exceptional-tree appeal; no action on those issues was recorded.
