The City of Port Angeles City Council’s regular meeting on August 18, 2026, included several procurement and funding actions. Council unanimously approved a five-year contract with Axon Enterprises for 43 Taser 10 devices, supporting hardware, and training, not to exceed $241,037.50 including taxes. It also unanimously ratified and extended the Madrona Law Group legal-services agreement through December 31, 2026; the amount was not stated. The consent agenda included a wastewater treatment plant digester pump purchase (MEC 2026-28), on-call tree removal and trimming services (SBC 2026-12), and a State Route 117 interchange design award (PSA 2026-36), alongside an expenditure report totaling $6,071,281.83. Council approved updated lodging-tax funding procedures for the 2027 RFP cycle and approved the 2026 electric power resource plan, which anticipates continued BPA load-following service under the previously approved contract extending to 2044. A second 2026 budget amendment received its first reading and was continued to September 1.

Council unanimously authorized up to $500,000—or 40% of the county contribution from the city’s HB 1590 housing sales-tax fund—for Peninsula Housing Authority’s Francis Ridge Senior Apartments, authorized a grant-support letter and agreements, and noted city building-permit fee waivers valued at more than $100,000. The proposed project is planned for 60–70 senior housing units and is pursuing tax-credit and state funding; no construction contractor was selected. Council also adopted municipal-code amendments implementing state housing and development requirements, including changes to parking, housing conversions, and supportive housing. These measures may affect future development opportunities and permitting. The city reported selecting AKS Engineering and Forestry for tree-canopy and stream assessments as part of its economic-development update.
