The City of Arlington, Washington Planning Commission met on October 20, 2026, and approved consent-agenda items before voting to recommend three 2026 zoning-code amendments to the City Council: AMC 20.08 (definitions), AMC 20.28 (enforcement), and AMC 20.56 (streets and sidewalks). Changes included updated land-use and technology definitions, revised department and staff titles, routing fees to the city fee schedule, and clarified street-improvement standards and maps for developers. The commission also agreed to correct a typo in the definitions amendment. Staff said large-scale data centers are already prohibited in the city; the code updates preserve allowances for ordinary business server rooms. The street-code revisions also reflect state law allowing certain existing gravel parking areas to remain.

The commission heard school-district capital facilities presentations and voted to recommend Lakewood School District’s capital facilities plan to the City Council. The presentation cited projected growth and proposed impact fees of $1,784 per single-family dwelling, $3,420 per duplex or townhome dwelling, and $3,092 per multifamily dwelling; the district also described plans to pursue a bond for a 750-student middle school. Arlington School District reported it currently cannot justify collecting impact fees because it cannot demonstrate a capacity need and has no planned capacity-expansion projects. No procurement awards, contracts, or vendor selections were identified.
