The City of West Bend Parks & Recreation Commission met on October 29, 2026. The commission approved a proposed one-day snowmobile race at Quass Creek, including an ordinance variance allowing snowmobiles, and approved waiving the event fee for its first year. The organizers will cover insurance, permits, and site preparation; city staff would provide only routine maintenance, such as snow removal. The commission also approved the proposed recreation programs and donations, including $3,855 and $52 in fundraiser proceeds. Program-related cost details included a $100 lifeguard-training fee against a $65 Red Cross charge and a revenue arrangement of $2 per participant per week for a contracted program.

The quarterly trust report showed approximately $500,000 in park impact fees, anticipated to support future Parkside park development, and $61,000 in dog-park fees; a possible dog-park expansion and coded gate were discussed but not approved as purchases. Staff are exploring AED installations at parks facilities, with pricing still under review and a possible March or April 2027 timeframe; no vendor selection or purchase was reported. Other updates included planned archery-range renovations, staff work on a boardwalk and park restorations, and consideration of future group-visit policies. No contract awards or bid approvals were identified.
