Body

Date

Jurisdiction
State & Local
The Town of Bridgewater Board of Health met on October 28, 2026. Members discussed the existing arrangement with the Halifax Public Excellence Group, a shared public-health resource providing inspection and related support. A member reported signing a document reflecting terms previously approved by the board: the arrangement runs for the remainder of the fiscal year, either party may end it with 60 days’ notice, and participation provides access to the shared service rather than the town directly paying an individual health worker’s salary. No dollar amount was stated, and the board was still awaiting a copy of the agreement; no new procurement vote or award occurred at this meeting.
Staff reported that hiring for a health agent was progressing, with two candidates interviewed by a board member, and described food-permit renewals due December 31, 2026, school and business inspections, and weekend event inspections supported by the shared group. The board also discussed updating tobacco regulations, with staff to seek existing drafts and neighboring towns’ examples before bringing any proposed changes to the board for a vote. Members received a notice concerning an environmental survey at the former BP station on Bedford Street; it required no response. The next meeting was set for November 18, 2026.
