Veterans 10/28/2026

The Saratoga County Veterans Committee meeting on October 28, 2026, included approval of the August 5 minutes and two spending approvals from the veterans’ fund. The committee approved a disbursement not to exceed $5,000 for shirts for the annual veterans’ 5K run; the shirts will be purchased from a new, unnamed Albany-area supplier at a reported savings of nearly $4 per shirt. The committee also approved up to $5,000 for grocery and other retail gift cards to assist veteran families and individuals, including during the holidays. Motions were made, seconded, and approved for both requests.

The presenter said the fund is supported by donations and event revenue, not taxpayer dollars. Run-related revenue was about $18,000 at the time of the meeting, and the fund had also received a $4,500 donation from Greenfield’s golf tournament and a separate $5,000 race sponsorship. Additional race expenses may be brought to a future committee meeting; no vendor contract or other procurement award was identified.
