The October 28, 2026 Finance, Audit and Budget Committee meeting of the Macomb County Board of Commissioners reviewed proposed 2027 budgets for Community Corrections, Emergency Management, the Sheriff’s Office, E911 Dispatch and Community Mental Health. Community Corrections requested $40,000 more for drug testing and electronic monitoring and $3.377 million from opioid settlement funds, including about $350,000 for new jail screening staff and related services. A lower-than-anticipated MDOC grant award will reduce planned contract services, including eliminating a recovery-focused employment program. Emergency Management included $45,000 to replace monitors in the Emergency Operations Center and budgeted to modernize outdoor-warning-siren control software; its self-supporting radio maintenance fund has about $1.07 million in fund balance for system upkeep and potential capital needs.

The Sheriff’s Office described proposed equipment and supply purchases, including vehicle lifts, event barriers and gas masks, and discussed contractual jail health-care costs with Wellpath. The proposed E911 Dispatch budget is about $12.6 million; major technology work includes implementing Axon 911 call handling, continuing Tyler Technologies’ CAD and records-management cloud migration, and deploying fiber connectivity. Adding Warren and Sterling Heights to shared technology services increases contract expenses, with participating agencies reimbursing their shares. The committee also discussed a previously approved GovWorks AI quality-assurance platform and a possible Community Corrections contract for expanded referral coordination that is expected to come before the board the following week. The meeting was primarily a budget review: no new vendor award or procurement approval was recorded. The budget reviews were received and filed on a 13–0 vote.
