At its October 29, 2026 public meeting, the Lewis and Clark County Commission proclaimed November 4–11 as Operation Green Light for Veterans. The commission approved a Montana Board of Crime Control grant award of $115,744 to support the Sheriff’s Office VAWA program, including domestic and sexual violence investigations and community partnerships. The award includes $86,808 in reimbursable funds and a $28,936 county match. The commission also approved the county’s longstanding agreement with Montana State University Extension; staff noted an increased county contribution toward agent salaries, but no amount was provided.
The commission approved Resolution 2026-11 declaring a 14.4-foot-by-338-foot portion of Center Street a county road, then approved abandoning that same right-of-way subject to conditions for recording an amended plat and retaining required utility easements. The actions are intended to resolve encroachments and title issues and enable boundary adjustments; a property owner said the process was prompted in part by Toyota’s proposed expansion of its facility. No county contract award or purchase from Toyota was discussed. The meeting also included approval of consent minutes; the transcript’s vote count is unclear.
