The City of Greenbelt’s City Manager’s Update work session on October 29, 2026, reviewed administrative operations and current projects. Procurement and capital planning items included the Cherrywood Lane resurfacing contract, with an additional CDBG application planned for the remaining roadway; plans to bring a museum renovation contractor RFP to Council in about two months, with work anticipated to begin around January 2027; and continued work on an Armory development RFP and demolition funding application. The City reported $150,000 in facade grants awarded during the quarter, seven grant applications submitted with five awards totaling $300,000, and separate major funding efforts including a demolition grant of more than $1 million and $2.7 million for the Springhill Lake Recreation Center expansion. The grants administrator also said the city was assessing whether eligible fleet vehicles could be submitted for currently available funding.

Other infrastructure and technology discussions included a planned 8–10 Level 2 EV charging spaces at Buddy Attick Park, subject to balancing cost, accessibility, and parking needs; recent Hanover Parkway resurfacing and Roosevelt Center improvements; and negotiations with Pepco over acquiring streetlights following approval of a $100 disconnect fee per light, which could affect the city’s roughly 1,000 lights. The city also reported technology and cybersecurity investments, including CrowdStrike endpoint protection and a network security audit with Red Siege, while considering outside expertise for systems integration. No procurement-related votes or formal contract approvals occurred during the work session; the meeting chair stated that work sessions do not take formal action. A later vote to enter closed session concerned personnel and legal matters, not procurement.
