The Police & Fire Pension Board subcommittee met on October 28, 2026, to develop the scope of a proposed pension-specific audit or agreed-upon-procedures review. Members discussed a draft RFP assembled from other municipalities’ pension-fund solicitations and the need to distinguish the work from the city’s existing government-wide audit. The proposed review would examine pension operations and compliance in greater depth; the first cycle may cost more, and the fund itself—not the city—would pay. No RFP was approved and no contract was awarded. The next steps are to circulate the draft for comments, consult the current auditor, Crossland, about the existing audit’s scope (Crossland is not expected to bid), and continue the discussion at a meeting tentatively set for December 2 at 9:00 a.m.; remote participation was considered if needed.
The subcommittee also discussed possible rules, application language, and legislative guidance for disability applicants who withdraw after medical examinations, including whether to recover examination costs. Members deferred the legal questions for review by counsel. They also raised an unresolved question about pension credit and repayment requirements for military leave, to be referred to counsel, and began discussing board-member training amid turnover. No motions or votes were reported on these matters.
