Milltown Borough Council meeting, August 17, 2026: Council approved the payment of municipal bills totaling $3,588,548.31 and passed the consent agenda, which included renewal of the borough’s solid-waste disposal agreement and water-tower improvements discussed as costing approximately $130,000. It also approved the FY2025 municipal audit and corrective action plan. Auditors reported fund balances of $2.467 million in the current fund, $486,000 in water and sewer, and $1.32 million in electric; their sole finding concerned delays in remitting receipts from outside departments, which borough staff said had been addressed. No new vendor award was identified.

Infrastructure and utility work was a major focus. The water-meter project was reported about 98% complete, while the borough had received a preliminary contractor quotation for the lead service-line replacement program through the Educational Services Commission of New Jersey cooperative and was coordinating next steps; 24 of 84 contacted property owners had responded to participate. Battery-storage-system commissioning and testing were ongoing, although the project had passed its previously anticipated June operating date. Council unanimously approved requests for Army Corps of Engineers scoping and technical assistance on recurring Brook Drive flooding and for Middlesex County to designate the area as a priority in its flood-mitigation study; these actions seek technical study and prioritization, not construction contracts. Reports also noted that a $106,000 grant had been spent on ADA ramps and that $700,000 in state funding had been secured for county firefighting-foam replacement.
