The Riverfront Improvement Commission meeting, dated October 27, 2026 (metadata lists October 28), approved minutes and the financial report. The commission also approved two existing tenant lease renewals—one for one year and one for two years—with modest increases; one tenant was identified as the Mississippi Valley Blues Society. The commission discussed a vacant riverfront restaurant space after I Love Fufu notified the city it would not renew. Members agreed to advertise the opportunity on the city website and consider proposals at the December 8 meeting, rather than select a tenant immediately. Staff noted there is no required public advertising period, and the commission discussed using a nonbinding ranking framework to evaluate prospective tenants. A separate lease renewal for Ross and Pina will combine two leases and return for consideration at the next meeting.

The commission approved an art-proposal evaluation process, with members describing the related scorecard as a flexible discussion tool. A fundraising plan for the municipal-end project, including a roughly $300,000 restoration goal and proposed site improvements, was tabled pending consultation with the Community Foundation about fiscal sponsorship and fundraising support. The commission also discussed waiting for a FEMA grant update; no construction award or project expenditure was approved. The next meeting was set for December 8.
