The City of Flagstaff Commission on Inclusion & Adaptive Living met on October 28, 2026. The Commission received an update on the city’s Snow Hero volunteer program, which matches residents needing help clearing snow and ice from public sidewalks with volunteers. The program complements the separate Parks and Recreation snow-berm removal service; no contracts, purchases, or spending decisions were discussed. The Commission also heard that the city is developing an ADA transition plan and reviewing access at approximately 478 city-owned properties, with public-facing sites such as City Hall, the library, the airport, and parks among those being prioritized.

Much of the discussion focused on Barrier Free Flagstaff’s recommendations for incorporating universal design into city infrastructure and capital projects, including accessible pedestrian routes, curb and sidewalk improvements, and involving people with disabilities in project design and review. Members proposed preparing a letter to city departments and Council advocating updated engineering standards, funding for corrective work, and accountability; a possible budget line or allocation was suggested but not adopted. The Commission approved the September 23, 2026 minutes without opposition. No procurement activity, contract awards, or budget allocations were approved.
