The City of Hammond Board of Public Works meeting on October 29, 2026, approved a contract between the Hammond Police Department and the Life and Trauma Survivor Center for annual wellness services, a Bitter G Auction contract to auction surplus police vehicles, and an MOU with the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles for confidential ID cards. The combined approvals passed 2–0. The Board also approved removing an obsolete fire department vehicle from the city inventory and auctioning it under state law. A $364,321 demolition lien for completed work at 5213 Holman Avenue was approved; the demolition work had already been completed and paid for. During public comment, officials referenced an earlier Board-approved $18,600 demolition bid to JM Industrial for 51 Webb Street and discussed whether the property could be rehabilitated before demolition proceeds.

Other actions included approval of right-of-way permits, including Buckeye Pipeline work along White Oak and Wicker to inspect lines and make repairs if needed, and installation of a children-at-play sign near 7041 Arkansas. The Board also approved police and fire personnel changes and set follow-up dates for several unsafe-property cases; no new capital project award or general budget allocation was identified.
