At its October 28, 2026 meeting, the Sycamore Community Schools Board recognized National Merit semifinalists and approved several agreements and spending-related items. The Board renewed its shared-service agreement with the City of Montgomery, approved a non-academic support contract with Hamilton County ESC, and approved a transportation-related resolution. It also approved a one-year natural gas contract with Gas South, effective December 1: the district will pay $4 per MCF, compared with its current $5.75 rate, with anticipated annual savings of about $25,000. Bricker Graydon was appointed to handle board-designated expulsion appeals.
The Board approved an amended resolution establishing financial parameters and cost-containment expectations, with the proposed 90-day deadline removed; administrators will develop a related policy for future Board consideration. Discussion centered on limiting expenditure growth to 3.5%, the treatment of transfers and exceptional costs, and the Board’s oversight role. The Treasurer also presented appropriation increases in three non-general funds, including $91,500 in Great Oaks grant funds and about $220,000 related to bond interest benefits and associated costs. Permanent-improvement transfers support facilities and other assets; officials said those transfers would stop if the pending levy passed, with dedicated funding instead. No vendor award was discussed for the bond-arbitrage matter, which was identified as informational rather than an action item.
