The City of Monterey Planning Commission met on October 27, 2026. On the consent agenda, the Commission approved the October 13 minutes and unanimously found the amended FY 2026–27 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project list consistent with the city’s planning documents, superseding an earlier resolution. The Planning Office noted that City Council had added the North Fremont Street Sidewalk Gap Project to the amended CIP; no project cost or procurement award was discussed. The Commission also approved a 10-year renewal of T-Mobile’s existing rooftop wireless facility use permit at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, with no new antennas or equipment proposed beyond cable-concealment screens, and approved a sign alteration at 2101 North Fremont Street subject to staff conditions. No contract awards, vendor selections, or purchasing actions were identified.

The Commission approved Marriott hotel exterior alterations at 350 Calle Principal, including a new deck, and allowed the owner to choose between the two proposed paint schemes; staff was asked to address a separate garage-door concern through enforcement. It continued the proposed seven-sign program at 245 Washington Street to November 24 for redesign discussions, rather than denying the application. Commissioners also discussed the need for clearer guidance on sign illumination. The November 10 meeting was expected to be canceled because no items were scheduled.
