BOE Facilities/Planning Committee - Oct. 28, 2026

The Norwalk Public Schools Board of Education Facilities/Planning Committee meeting, held Oct. 28, 2026, reviewed construction progress at Norwalk High School and early planning for West Rocks School. Norwalk High School remains on schedule for student occupancy in fall 2027, with total project completion targeted for fall 2028; work includes interior finishes, elevator installation, and the softball field. The West Rocks conceptual project estimate is currently $125 million and is being updated for the upcoming capital budget request. The estimate may increase to include solar and geothermal systems. The project is projected to receive 65% reimbursement, and the grant application timeline was postponed from June 2026.

The committee also discussed preliminary capital requests for HVAC replacements, air conditioning at schools that lack it, extensive elementary-school bathroom renovations, and redesigning and repaving Bryan McMahon’s parking lot. Some work may need to be phased over multiple summers; the district expects to present capital requests to the city by mid-to-late December. No procurement awards or spending approvals were reported.
