The Brevard County Tourism Development Council met on October 28, 2026. The council unanimously approved a three-year contract with the Brevard Cultural Alliance (BCA), including an escalator and renewal option. The current-year allocation is $217,000, matching last year’s amount; BCA presented its arts, community, and tourism-related programs. Staff also reported that tourism revenues were projected to exceed the $27 million budget, with approximately $950,000 in marketing funds carried forward and potentially additional unspent funds available for next summer’s campaign after reconciliation. No vote was taken on the budget projections.
The council discussed beach erosion and potential restoration spending. Staff proposed taking a South Beaches project to the Board of County Commissioners on November 10, using approximately $7.6 million in available state grant funding, including $1.7 million from the TDC; the work could begin in January if approved. The proposal would require a budget change and was not approved at this meeting. For the Mid-Reach, staff discussed an approximately $29–30 million project planned around $14 million in nonfederal funds and $15 million from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and recommended waiting for federal participation rather than proceeding without the match. The council also received tourism and convention-sales updates; no other procurement actions were identified.
