The Eureka Springs City Advertising and Promotions Commission (CAPC) held its regular workshop meeting on October 28, 2026. The commission was told that staff placed $250,000 in a six-month certificate of deposit after soliciting bids; Equity Bank submitted the highest bid, and the account was opened. For a proposed welcome center and related parking options, the tourism director had contacted three research firms and was awaiting information and bids; no firm was selected. The 2027 budget was not presented or approved. Staff anticipated a flat budget, discussed potentially reducing group-sales show spending by 50% and developing a distinctive mobile travel van, and said the proposed amount for the existing KHM/Madden Media relationship would remain unchanged, with possible service reallocations. A budget draft is expected for the November 11 workshop. The commission approved the September financial reports by motion; no vote on the proposed budget, research work, or van was recorded.
Members also discussed how a possible welcome center, parking, and other visitor amenities might fit together, as well as potential impacts from a future highway roundabout project. These were exploratory discussions, not project approvals. The meeting also included tourism and website performance reports, collection trends, and discussion of filling a vacant commission seat.
