The Iberia Parish Council’s regular meeting on October 28, 2026, included updates on capital work and approval of several budget amendments through the consent agenda. The parish president reported that work had begun on rehabilitating more than 1.5 miles of industrial roads at the Port of Iberia; the presentation cited a project figure of about $4.3 million and anticipated change orders, alongside plans for an additional $28 million in port roads. The animal-shelter expansion advanced with concrete poured. Budget amendments included $1,451,380 for the airport corporate bulk hangar Phase 2 project, funded by a 90% FAA grant and 10% DOD grant; $514,525 for an air traffic control tower renovation; $115,000 for community-hangar and supporting-infrastructure design funded by a DOT grant; and $2,825,713 for the CP Stumpy Bayou flood-control structure from prior-year fund balance. The council also approved a $3,400,928 amendment to the 2026 royalty fund budget. The president announced that the U.S. Navy selected Bo Brothers in Loreauville to produce 10 Romulus unmanned vessels, with delivery expected to begin before the end of 2027; no contract value was stated. A $5,000 Community Foundation grant to the Andy Iberia Foundation was also noted.

Other business included a discussion of rising employee and retiree health-plan costs and the need for future discussions about coverage for new hires; no policy change or spending action was taken on that issue. The council deferred one rezoning request to its next meeting and appointed members to veterans memorial advisory boards. No procurement actions were identified in the joint committee portion, which consisted of public comments.
