The Peoria Historic Preservation Commission met on October 28, 2026, and recognized the 50th anniversary of the city’s historic preservation program. The commission considered three certificates of appropriateness for privately owned properties. It approved case HPC 422-2026 for front-yard fencing at 4600 North Knoxville Avenue, and case HPC 424-2026 for replacement of a storm-damaged garage at 7201 North Gillis Road; both motions carried, with one opposing vote noted in each case. For case HPC 436-2026, involving tree removal and trimming at a property in the Moss Avenue Historic District, the commission voted to defer action and require a report from a certified arborist; no further landscaping work is to proceed pending that information.

A resident also raised concerns about construction along Moss Avenue, including restoration of a sidewalk and a coach stop, but the commission did not take up the matter as official business. No public procurement, contract awards, vendor selections, or spending decisions were identified.
