The Ala Moana–Kakaʻako Neighborhood Board regular meeting was held October 28, 2026. The main procurement- and infrastructure-related presentation covered the Honolulu Safer Streets Project: a federally funded planning effort awarded just under $2 million to address safety on high-injury corridors, including Beretania, South King, and Young Streets. Potential measures include protected bike lanes, bus lanes, traffic-signal upgrades, curb extensions, and traffic calming. Beretania is expected to be repaved after current Wilder Avenue work, with Pensacola also identified for future repaving. The board raised concerns about crosswalk safety and the Pensacola bike-lane design; project representatives agreed to follow up, but no contract awards or purchasing decisions were made. A representative also reported that the governor had released $7 million for Waikiki Beach restoration and related beach nourishment, Ala Wai debris-management, and Waikiki Aquarium improvements.

A Splash Water Parks representative presented a preliminary concept for a ticketed inflatable attraction at Ala Moana Beach Park, proposing a fixed lease plus a share of gross sales, with staffing and operations funded by the company. No application had been filed, and the proposal faces permitting and public-access questions; the board took no action on it. The board voted 9–0 to support holding a town hall on a possible business improvement district, and also voted to participate in the Jingle Rock Run parade. Other topics included public safety and bar closing-hour enforcement, Red Hill Registry outreach, dog access at Ala Moana Regional Park, and community concerns about parking and traffic safety.
