The CFAUSD Video Communications special board meeting on October 30, 2026, approved the meeting agenda and closed-session agenda, then considered a revision to the 2026–27 budget and tax levy. The district administrator reported that an error in the revenue-limit worksheet overstated allowable limited revenue by approximately $1.1 million. To address the shortfall, the revised budget reduced planned spending in several areas, including staff contingency and unfilled positions, health-care costs (by a little over $500,000), and open-enrollment and voucher/charter-school payments (approximately $370,000 combined). The revised general-fund budget was stated as $70,853,711.19. The board approved the revised budget and levy as presented; the motion carried.
The administrator reported that overall expenses were down 1.39% year over year, revenues were up 0.34%, state aid was down 3.08%, and debt was up about $2.152 million (6.49%). The revised levy lowered the projected mill rate to 5.57 mills. Staff will update the materials and submit corrected forms to DPI, with monitoring and a budget update planned for January; a forecast and potential operational referendum capacity were also expected to be discussed at the November meeting. The board then moved toward closed session to discuss an employment matter and receive legal advice concerning potential imminent litigation. No contracts, vendors, or other procurement actions were identified.
