The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District Board of Education regular meeting was held October 28, 2026. The board discussed procurement and options for the potential PVIS field project amid public concerns about artificial turf’s cost, safety, and environmental effects. By a 5–0 vote, it approved an amendment to the district’s architectural-services scope with DLR to support bidding and provide pricing and options for a later discussion. This approval did not authorize a construction award or settle the field choice; bids were expected by November 18, with a public discussion planned for that meeting. The board also approved, by a 3–2 vote, a $15,000 district contribution toward logos on Peninsula High School’s bleachers, despite concerns that the expense was a nonessential use of funds. AirTutors online math tutoring was included among the consent items; the meeting also discussed Mystery Science as supplemental instructional material.
The board appointed two members to the Operations Advisory Committee for three-year terms by a 5–0 vote. It discussed proposed student screen-use and AI policies, but no final policy action was reported. Public comment raised concerns about district spending on consultants and services, including a claimed five-year increase of about $8 million, and contrasted those expenditures with teacher compensation. The district also reported capital work and bond oversight activity; no other major contract award or procurement decision was identified.
