At the October 28, 2026 Common Council regular meeting of the City of New Britain, members approved several spending and funding items. The Council passed a purchase order of $825,600 for rehabilitation of the Willowbrook tennis courts, described as the lowest bid received through an open bidding process; the project will use post-tension concrete, and discussion noted a typical lifespan of 30–40 years. Members also approved $171,492.60 for a complete asphalt-shingle roof replacement at Stanley Municipal Golf Course, funded through Parks and Recreation capital funds, and appropriated $475,521.23 in state health per-capita grant funds. A separate resolution approving $3,000 in new funding and equipment through the Health Department’s American Heart Association partnership also passed.

The Council approved a resolution authorizing the Finance Department to receive and account for donations supporting the One City celebration; members cited $37,750 raised from sponsors and donors. Two petitions were referred for follow-up: a request for an accounting of the City’s relationship with Crombie Law Group LLC went to corporate counsel, and a request for a financial accounting of the One City celebration went to the Finance Department. Public comment urged the City to fill its CHRO officer position and a vacant council seat; these discussions did not result in procurement actions.
