The City of Nisswa Public Works Committee met October 28, 2026. After approving the October 27 meeting minutes, the committee interviewed four candidates for vacant seats; recommendations are scheduled for the November meeting, followed by mayoral appointment and City Council approval in December. No procurement award or spending authorization was made. The committee received an update on wastewater pond-liner repairs: a facility plan is about 60% complete, with Pond 2 alone preliminarily estimated at $600,000–$700,000 and all three ponds at approximately $2 million–$2.5 million. Staff said Public Facilities Authority financing may be available no earlier than 2028 and will develop more refined estimates and consult liner suppliers and contractors. Financing for the pond work and Lift Station 1 repairs is expected to be a future discussion.
Staff reported that 2026 road-bond construction is nearing completion, with paving underway. For the 2027 road-bond projects, a November 10 public information meeting is planned; the work includes street, alley, trail, drainage, and city parking-lot improvements. Staff expects to seek bids around January or February to support competitive pricing, and is coordinating utility relocations. The committee reviewed a draft project-communications plan and requested time to consider it and cost estimates by communication method; no plan was approved. The cemetery pump-house replacement, previously estimated at $5,000–$10,000 if self-performed, was deferred until spring because of seasonal construction conditions. The committee also discussed public engagement and potential changes to project scope, including proposed Church Street drainage and trail work, without taking action on those proposals.
