The Union County Board of Education Facilities Committee met on October 28, 2026, and voted 3–0 to forward several items to the full board. The committee recommended selecting Venoi Construction for $578,973 in preconstruction services for the Parkwood High School bond project, following interviews and site visits with four firms. It also advanced a $135,465.62 media-center furniture proposal for Porter Ridge Middle and High Schools, using state-contract vendor Interior Elements and FY25 capital-improvement funds; approximately $800,000 remains from the $1.5 million allocation. The committee also advanced a $152,560 auditorium-seating replacement for the East Union Middle School renovation, to be provided through a source contract, and a stormwater easement item. A one-vehicle surplus list was presented.
The committee recommended forwarding a proposed name change from East Union Middle School to Forest Hills Middle School and discussed a feasibility study for future academic or community uses of the existing East Union building. The district has issued a purchase order to an architectural firm for the study, with results expected in about 90 days; no amount or firm name was provided. The committee also received updates on ongoing bond-funded construction and Parkwood High School design. The discussed motions were committee recommendations to the full board, not final board approvals.
