The Cabarrus County Schools Board of Education held a work session on November 2, 2026. Construction updates covered the new Northwest Cabarrus High School and an elementary school project. The elementary school project’s construction manager at risk is Rogers Builders, with a reported budget of $48 million; site grading, utility extensions, blasting coordination, and road access were discussed. The superintendent also reminded residents that a $340 million school bond would appear on the November 3 ballot. For Concord High School’s HVAC project, staff presented a $2,180,125 chiller phase under the district’s Omnia agreement with Schneider Electric, leaving approximately $4.82 million for later upgrades. Board members raised questions about the expired pricing-validity date, documentation, and procurement approach. The item was placed on a future action agenda, pending written confirmation of pricing; no award vote occurred at this work session.
The board reviewed a monthly budget report, including the district’s new diesel-delivery contractor, Campbell Oil, and a proposed budget amendment with a net increase of $85,519, which was slated for the next meeting’s consent agenda. A proposed $138,500 fund-balance appropriation for bus-radio installation, a used dump truck, and another capital item was held for action pending discussion of the district’s fund-balance policy. The board also reviewed policy updates, including purchasing requirements, and agreed to transfer Harrisburg baseball-field property to the town and grant Concord utility and construction easements; those items were assigned to the consent agenda. No procurement contract was approved at this session.
