Placer County Planning Commission meeting, October 30, 2026: The Commission received updates on upcoming planning matters, the General Plan update, Housing Element work, and recruitment for an at-large Commission seat. The main hearing concerned amendments to the General Plan Health and Safety Element, including incorporating the forthcoming 2026 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan by reference, updating the wildfire hazard map to reflect adopted severity zones, and clarifying evacuation-preparedness language. Staff said the amendments would not change land-use designations, allowable development, or commit the County to physical improvements. The Commission voted unanimously to recommend the amendments to the Board of Supervisors, including an environmental-review exemption.

Commissioners also discussed public outreach and a separate evacuation transportation resiliency study focused on five selected areas, expected to be completed in June 2027. The study may inform later planning or infrastructure decisions, but it is not a countywide evacuation-capacity assessment and no projects, contracts, funding, or purchases were approved at this meeting. The consent calendar was approved, and one hearing item was continued. No procurement activity was identified.
