The Nacogdoches Airport Board meeting on October 27, 2026, covered airport construction, infrastructure, and prospective procurement. Staff reported that runway and taxiway work was nearing completion, with warranty repairs and final closures planned. The project strengthened the runway for heavier aircraft and expanded the runway safety area; staff said TxDOT’s eligible funding ceiling was $6 million, with the city’s 5% share and a previously committed $300,000 discussed. The board took no action on this construction update. Staff also reported that the city had approved a utility-funded airport waterline extension contract with Horton Excavating on September 1 to support potential new hangars; no contract amount was stated.

Staff proposed ordinance changes to regulate airport self-fueling, including a $500 annual permit fee and a $0.20-per-gallon fuel-flowage fee. Board members raised concerns that the fees and requirements could burden pilots with low fuel use, and staff agreed to develop tiered options and return the proposal to the board before sending it to City Council. A possible third tank for unleaded fuel was put on hold because of cost and supply constraints. Staff also said an airport business plan could cost approximately $150,000; they are pursuing potential funding from the Type B economic development corporation, after which they would solicit a qualified consultant. Funding had not yet been approved, and no consultant was selected.
