The Pleasant Valley Public Park Features Community Engagement Session, held October 27, 2026, was convened to gather public input on the park planned as part of redevelopment of the former Pleasant Valley Elementary School site. The developer described an approximately 16-acre project with about 300 housing units and a proposed half-acre park at the site frontage, alongside wooded walking trails. The park is in early design; the meeting was required under the town’s purchase and sale agreement. The developer said it would fund the park’s construction and ongoing maintenance, so the park would be publicly accessible without public funding. No procurement awards, bids, or spending votes were discussed.

Residents suggested adding or considering a basketball or multipurpose paved area, swings and inclusive play equipment, lighting, water access, picnic tables, adult exercise equipment, and a memorial to the school. They also raised concerns about the park’s size, trail and park maintenance, drainage, dog use, construction traffic, and ensuring the space is clearly identified as public. The developer said feedback would inform further design but made no commitments on specific features. The project will proceed through planning and zoning review, with a later town council checkpoint to confirm the purchase and sale agreement’s terms are met.
