🚨 Public Safety 🚚 Transportation Grants & Funding

At its regular meeting on October 26, 2026, the Brockton City Council adopted an order appropriating $2.3 million to purchase fire trucks and authorizing the city to borrow the amount and issue bonds or notes. The measure passed by a 9–0 roll-call vote. The council also granted several motor-vehicle mechanical-repair and auto-body licenses; two Easy Collection/Easy Collision license petitions were tabled after the applicants withdrew. An amendment to the city pay-plan ordinance concerning communications and public-safety communications positions was ordained by a 9–1 vote.

Several financial matters were referred to the Finance Committee rather than approved at this meeting. These included a proposed $27,511.93 transfer from the general stabilization fund, acceptance and expenditure of a $258,000 Massachusetts Department of Mental Health grant for the Brockton Police Department’s FY2027 jail-arrest-diversion program, and a proposed $18,184,462.35 transfer from the pension stabilization fund, including amounts for school-related deficits and other city expenses. The council also referred a $250 payment for a prior-year Better Business Journal invoice and a request for $2.7 million in legal-settlement and judgment-line appropriations. No other contract award or vendor selection was identified.
