The Michigan City Historic Preservation Commission met on October 26, 2026, to review Certificates of Appropriateness (COAs) for work on historic-district properties. The commission approved COA 2026-051 for a new roof and reclaimed-paver driveway at 424 East 8th Street; tabled COA 2026-052 for 710 Franklin Street pending a revised sign mock-up with centered placement and halo lighting; and authorized staff review of a revised colorway and placement for the sign proposed at 720 Franklin Street. It denied COA 2026-054 for vinyl replacement windows at 627 Pine Street, and approved masonry repairs at 813 Franklin Street with a condition to preserve what can be saved.

The commission also approved COAs 2026-056 and 2026-057 for roofing and window work at 902 Franklin Street, a new roof at 808 Cedar Street, and roof and soffit work at 810 Cedar Street, with gutters left for staff review. It approved the staff-review report covering additional roof-related applications. These were preservation approvals for property work; the transcript identifies no public contract awards, purchasing decisions, budget allocations, or government procurement activity.
