The North Hudson Village Board meeting was held October 27, 2026. The board approved October claims totaling $189,830.75, including approximately $18,000 in pass-through building and utility charges and about $152,000 for the budgeted annual payment on the 2023 bond. It also approved retaining outside legal counsel for a municipal OWI appeal, with fees and expenses subject to board approval; no fee amount was stated. The board approved moving employee health coverage from HealthPartners to Medica, which staff said would reduce costs for the village and employees. A separate motion to reallocate $62,100 of unspent 2026 operating funds to assigned or committed accounts for nine 2027 capital requests also passed unanimously. The proposed 2027 budget was discussed but not adopted; it includes about $108,000 in capital requests, with items such as park purchases, a police training trailer, and curb-and-gutter work. Staff also discussed a potential $50,000 allocation for curb-and-gutter repairs and a five-year capital plan.
On the proposed purchase of the former Mansfield Oil Company property, staff recommended against proceeding because of the village’s financial position and environmental concerns. The board did not decide whether to purchase it and requested additional DNR records and sampling information to better understand site conditions. Public works reported ongoing parking-lot grading and future paving work, and the outgoing village president said he expected to resign after the budget was completed, with an appointment to fill the remainder of his term planned for a later meeting.
